About Us
Preemie Advocacy Network (PAN) is a coalition of moms, caregivers, and medical professionals working to promote maternal and premature infant health.
Every preemie parent has a story.
Welcoming a new baby into the world should be a time of joy. Yet for parents of babies born prematurely, the feeling of joy can be met with fear and apprehension as their tiny miracles fight to grow stronger in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
In the NICU, medical professionals quickly go to work trying to replicate the environment that most babies experience in the womb. Among other concerns, addressing the baby’s nutritional needs are paramount. Without adequate nutrients, growth can be challenging.
Preemie feeding decisions are dynamic and happen in real time. Medical professionals should have the full menu of options – including preemie formula and human milk fortifier – to determine the best course of treatment for their patients.
